challenge
This highly visible location had nothing especially beautiful or eye-catching to draw attention to it. The client wanted more "curb appeal" and to update and improve the overall look and health of the landscape.
They wanted year-round color but needed to save on water and costs and did not want maintenance fees to increase with the upgrades. They also needed something hearty that could withstand major foot traffic.
solution
Our upgrade improvement plan included the removal of 6,500 square feet of turf to be replaced with 385 roses, grasses, and flowering shrubs. We also eliminated the overhead irrigation system and replaced it with a drip system.
results
The client experienced dramatic results including:
- 55% savings in water costs totaling over $65,000 per calendar year.
- 35% reduction of unnecessary existing labor tasks equaling more effective maintenance of the property.
- Experienced savings on costs for fertilizer, pesticides and other products now no longer needed.
- Significant reduction in environmental impact.
Renovation costs ran low compared to the long term fiscal benefits. In addition to the major financial result the client now enjoys a beautifully landscaped, brightly colored attractive environment that fulfills their landscape needs and goals.
Due to the reduction of the need for harsh fertilizer and pesticide materials, gasoline powered mowers and 2-cycle engine equipment, noise and fuel pollution and emissions overall have been reduced. These upgrades and improvements will help make a lasting contribution to protect the environment as well.
